The Fresnel Lens

Doubling Point is one of those lights that I internally classify as a "cute lighthouse." Others that come to mind are, of course, its sister light Squirrel Point, and also Brant Point, Darby Wharf, Owls Head, Lobster Point, and even Castle Hill. Can you think of any that could be considered a "cute lighthouse" or am I the only one that thinks of them this way? 😅

Happy #Bluesday from Spring Point. It was perhaps a bit foolhardy to be out here with a storm rolling in, but I loved the moody blues. Even managed to catch a bit of lightning to the right of the light.

Cape Blanco things. This was one of those rare moments when I took more photos of the landscape than the lighthouse. It's shocking because the lighthouse is very cool! I love the massive lantern and 2nd Order Fresnel Lens.

Which Lighthouse Wednesday! This one might be tricky. I'll give you 2 clues.

1 - You get a great view of this lighthouse when you take the ferry from Vancouver Island to Vancouver - if you're following the Trans-Canada Route.

2 - It is located in an 182-acre park dating to 1792. It's mostly comprised of old-growth rainforest.

Let me know if you figure it out! 👇

(And yes, I did wait an obnoxious amount of time for a plane to pass, and I did not edit the plane placement. I fully believe in capturing things as they are and not making them what I want it to be.)

It amazes me that even very crowded and bustling places can feel peaceful sometimes. Nature's pretty cool like that.

A moody minimal Black Rock today. Nature can be so dramatic sometimes, and I absolutely love it. That's why I never get tired of photographing the same locations over and over again. It's never the same experience twice.

✨️ Dutch Island Lighthouse ✨️ This Rhode Island light was built in 1857 on a small island in Narragansett Bay. I just love how unique the older lighthouses are before they became more standardized.

Which Lighthouse Wednesday! One of those moments when a photo just comes together. I was not looking for branches to frame this lighthouse, but I happened to walk in just the right spot. Serendipity.

Do you recognize this light? Hint: Nantucket
